"By the time I was in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a basketball coach and all the decisions I made from that point on were dedicated to fulfilling that desire. As other young coaches, I did all that I could do in order to learn from the best. Reading information, watching videos, attending clinics from renowned coaches like Coach K, Coach Knight, Coach Pitino, Coach Williams as well as others to numerous to list were the avenues I utilized. Although I will always be grateful to the contributions of others towards my basketball education, there came a time when I realized that their system did not always fit my coaching situation. Even though there are many basketball principles that apply at all levels from youth to professional, there are still many elements that will not pertain to every level. I realized that these men were able to either draft or recruit certain types of players to fit their system. What happens when there are limitations that prevent you, as a coach, from making that work? These can include resource limitations, philosophical limitations, and time limitations to name just a few. There are many coaching situations where the competitive playing field is not level. In order to remain competitive and insure that each of my teams reach its full potential, I found that flexibility and adaptability were critical" - Ken Brooks |

| “My first college basketball coaching job was as an assistant under Ken Brooks and I count it a privilege to have worked under him during those four years. Ken taught me how to run a quality collegiate program including everything from player development, recruiting, scouting, game planning, practice planning, and x’s and o's. Ken has one of the best minds for basketball I have ever been around.” Tony Duckworth, head men’s coach at Huntingdon College (NCAA Division III) 2005-06 final record 20-7, Great South Atlantic Conference regular season co-champions and tournament champions and GSAC coach of the year. |

| “I heartily endorse Ken Brooks as an instructor of basketball and young people. Our son, currently an 8th grader, has benefited greatly from Ken’s professional approach in training him over the last few years in not only the fundamentals, but also the nuances of the game. The confidence and experience that Ken brings to the court clearly transfers over to his students and their parents. We commend Ken for his teaching creativity and commitment to the personal growth of each athlete involved in his program. We also appreciate and respect Ken’s consistency and godly character.” Drew Trapnell (middle school parent) |
| " I was fortunate to be teammates with Ken in college, then we were together on staff as assistants at Liberty University and throughout the years have had numerous opportunities to watch his team's play and practice. Ken excelled with the game as a player. His motivation to prepare himself for each competition was unmatched. Ken’s dedication to advance his own skill set produced a John Havlicek comparison with Ken's ability to run, execute footwork and shoot the ball. As a coach his ability to teach the fundamentals while advancing the confidence of his players produce championship level habits. Ken values relationship and reaches deep within those he works with to help them better understand their strengths and weaknesses as together they strive to maximize potential." Randy Dunton, head men’s coach at Liberty University (NCAA Division I) 2003-04 Big South regular season co-champions and tournament champions, berth in the NCAA I national tournament field of 64 |
"Coach Brooks has coached both Hunter, our son, and worked with Logan, our daughter. We are thankful for his influence on both of our children. When Hunter was a freshman, he allowed him to play through his mistakes which gave him the confidence to continue improving as the year went on. Hunter became a better player under Coach Brooks tutelage and even more important a better person. In Logan's case she had lost confidence in her play and even more specifically her shooting. After just a few sessions, Coach Brooks was able to identify very quickly a few areas for her to work on and in a relatively short time thereafter her play and her confidence improved." Frank and Kelli Miller (high school parents) |
"I have known Ken Brooks for over ten years. He has been a personal friend and mentor for almost five years. I have seen him build programs and players with the highest level of professionalism and integrity. Ken has always been available to me and my teams for help with team concepts as well as individual development and training. Ken's ability to train players in the area of shooting transcends gender and age. I would highly recommend Coach Ken Brooks to anyone who wants to be a better basketball player." Scott Oatsvall, former college head coach and current head girls coach at Christ Presbyterian Academy (high school) 2004-05 final record, 25-14, Tennessee state tournament final four |
"I loved Coach Brooks because he demanded maximum effort and didn't settle for anything less. Basketball aside, Coach Brooks is someone that I look up to greatly, someone that truly personifies how to trust in the Lord under all circumstances. Coach Brooks helped me fulfill my dreams of playing in the state tournament and winning championships. One day I hope to repay him for the countless favors he did for me. He will always be my coach." Zach Ferrell (former player) |
| "I enjoyed playing under Coach Brooks because he is a man of faith and secondly because he loves basketball. There is no other coach I would have rather played under." Clinton Corder (former player) |
| “Having played for Ken Brooks in college and maintaining my relationship with him since that time, I can highly endorse him and his basketball system. Coach Brooks is a tremendous teacher of the game of basketball. He has a unique ability to break the game into parts and notice details that others simply don't see. He has helped my teams in the past with areas including: defensive footwork, positioning and helping me institute a pressure defensive system. He has shaped my philosophy on the incredible importance of balance on offense and defense. He is a great resource for any individual or team seeking his services.” Tommy Brown, head men’s coach at Lee University (NAIA Division I) 2005-06 final record 24-10, Southern States Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champions, berth in national tournament and SSAC coach of the year. |
| “Ken, I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how pleased I have been with your individual basketball instruction with Andrew. He is always excited to work with you. I love the fact you not only stress the fundamentals, but you correct the little nuisances of his game and make it fun at the same time. Your instruction has not only helped Andrew improve his skills but has given him a new confidence in his abilities and he has improved his game. We look forward to Andrew's continued work and instruction from you. Many thanks.” Al Manuel (elementary school parent) |
| “I have known Ken Brooks for thirty years beginning as teammates on our conference championship and nationally ranked college team at East Central College. As we have both grown in the coaching profession, I respect his coaching knowledge as much as any coach I have come in contact with. His knowledge of basketball and ability to teach it are unmatched. I wish each one of my players could spend time with Ken improving their game.” Steve Tappmeyer, head men’s coach at Northwest Missouri State (NCAA Division II) 18 years at NMSU with an overall record of 346-178 (.662). 2005-06 final record 22-10, advancing to the NCAA II national tournament sweet 16. |
